Cherokee Nation Approves Purchase of Will Rogers Downs Horse Racing Facility.
The track offers live quarterhorse and thoroughbread racing, and simulcast racing from tracks across the country. The state Legislature approved a measure to allow electronic gaming machines at Will Rogers Downs. The bill included a compact with state American Indian tribes to allow electronic games and some non-house bank card games to be played at tribal casinos. They expect to provide in excess of 100 new jobs in Claremore. The track should open in early September after spending an estimated $2 million on renovation of the facility. |
The Market - A new shopping center taking shape south of Claremore.
The Market, is under construction between Chili's and the new Sonic Drive-In along Hwy 66. This will be a three phase shopping center. The first phase will consist of 8,000 sq. ft, and will lease 1000 sq. ft. increments. This phase will be completed in the next 30 days. Phase two will be an L shaped 32,000 sq.ft. building that will be completed in late October. The third and final phase is a "build to suit site". Basler Real Estate will be handling all leases pertaining to the property. |
A new peforming arts center for Claremore.
An $8 million dollar, 40,000 sq. ft.building has been proposed for Claremore. The plan calls for a building with a ground floor seating capacity of 750 and a balcony that will seat 350. |
Claremore Regional Hospital signaled a commitment to northeast Oklahoma when ground was broken on a $15 million construction and renovation project.
Included in the construction and renovation project will be:
- Outpatient surgery center.
- Outpatient diagnostic center
- Medical office building, etc.

Golf course, new homes planned for Verdigris site.
A new $15 million dollar project will soon break ground in Verdigris. Willow Gorge is master planned for 158 residential lots, from 1/4 acre to 1 acre in size. The championship golf course plays to a length of 6701 yards with a par of 71. The 124-acre golf course will feature an "island" with a restaurant, townhouses, a swimming pool, and Masters Bridge replica. |
