Just north of Claremore, about seven miles on U.S. Highway 66, is Sequoyah. What was originally a small rural school has, in fact, grown into a much larger school with a fine reputation for turning out well educated graduates who have good national tests scores. A large percent of these graduates continue on to college. However, Sequoyah can now lay claim to a growing industrial development.
What began as a hobby in 1978 for Bob Pope, has developed into a nationally recognized industry. Starlite Trailer Sales, manufactures trailers and delivers to fifteen (15) different states, such as New York, Vermont, Montana, etc. In addition to manufacturing trailers, Starlite Trailer Sales, now builds custom truck bed and axels.
Wheels Are Rolling, a powder coating business where wheels are reconditioned, is another new business in Sequoyah. Nearby you will find Corporate Metals which is a fabricating business.
These three industries are responsible for providing approximately one hundred and thirty five (135) job opportunities for Rogers County.
This community is growing so rapidly, they now have Bank of Chelsea-Sequoyah Branch, and KP's Restaurant. These are new additions to the Sequoyah area. And, we must not forget Kong's Korner", more than just a convenience store. One of the real landmarks in Rogers County. |
